University-affiliated language schools are designed for students preparing for university admission locally, so by nature they focus on improving English skills needed for university classes, such as report writing and presentation preparation. Language courses attached to universities are held on university campuses, offering the benefits of enjoying campus life alongside undergraduate students, as well as more diverse opportunities to interact with them and participate in varied cultural activities. Additionally, upon completing a course above a certain level, students may be given the opportunity for conditional admission to the university without taking a separate English test. While recognized for systematic and credible educational quality, the disadvantage is that tuition fees are more expensive compared to private English education institutions.
Private language schools are established for students who wish to study English for various reasons such as English training, further education, and employment, and accordingly have diverse and specialized English education courses, and are highly preferred by students with short-term study plans. Compared to university-affiliated schools, they focus on learning English expressions needed in real life, and through classes consisting of small groups, students can receive personalized education tailored to their individual learning levels and abilities. Compared to university-affiliated language schools, they offer various English programs (General English, Business English, TOEIC/TOEFL/Cambridge/IELTS, TESOL, University Preparation, Translation and Interpretation), and in addition to regular classes, they prepare activities that provide opportunities to experience Australian culture or supplement learning.
